Courses · First aid

First aid and mental health courses.

Four narrated courses: the online theory for blended Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work courses, a first-on-scene course for responders, and mental health awareness for everyone at work. Each one ends with a system-marked check.

Why it matters

Theory online, practical skills in the room.

Under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, employers must provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities and people. Workplaces that need trained first aiders usually choose Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or the longer First Aid at Work (FAW), depending on their first aid needs assessment.

Blended courses let learners cover the theory online first, so the time in the room goes on hands-on practice. First Aid Essentials and Advanced First Aid are that online theory, ready for a training provider to pair with its practical sessions. Emergency Responder works the same way for people who may be first on scene.

HSE guidance also asks employers to think about mental health when they assess their first aid needs. Mental Health at Work has no hands-on skills to assess, so it runs fully online.

HSE-recognised first aid certificates, such as Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and First Aid at Work (FAW), cannot be earned fully online. The practical skills must be taught and assessed face to face by a qualified trainer. First Aid Essentials, Advanced First Aid and Emergency Responder are online theory, which a training provider pairs with the in-person practical.
